Berlin Street Art

Art is everywhere is Berlin - pretty much any blank wall of a building or hidden allyway has some form of graffiti, stencil, poster or paintwork. The Berlin districts of Kreuzberg-Friedrichshain and Mitte have some of the most impressive pieces, and they can be easily found on a self guided walk. Even during a thunderstorm.

hiking pulpit rock

Where ever we travel, we try to get out of the cities and find somewhere to hike. Since our main aim for our europe trip was to see Norway, we chose Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock in Southern Norway. The cliff face sits 600 meters above gorgeous the Lysefjorden, and at around 5 hours return, it's a perfect day hike.

the inkodye experiment

i've always wanted to print my own designs on fabric or other material, and ages ago joe got me a kit from a kickstarter project called lumi inkodye. the kit included 3 coloured dyes and clear printable sheets to make your own negative. the basic theory is that you create a negative from your own image, paint the dye on to the fabric, place it in the sun to develop. seems easy enough. so over the easter weekend i gave it a shot.the first step was to create the negative, i choose a photo that i took in tanzania in november. i wanted something with high contrast between black and white to give a strong printed image. so a zebra seemed like a good choice :)
