on day 3 we changed accommodation from the hotel near the louvre and the river, to the other side and to rue des lomards. we booked a little apartment to see how french people really live. so while we were waiting to check in, we went to see the amazing van gogh exhibition at musee d'orsay
the exhibition was amazing, so many great paintings the best self portraits, starry night, the bedroom (one of), haystacks. at least 40 of his most famous works. it was too bad no photos were allowed inside at all, but it was too good an opportunity to miss a photo through the clock, with a view to paris. on a clear day you could see to sacre cour easily.
after d'orsay our traditional picnic lunch at a famous site continued. this time quiche and eclairs from eric kaiser patisserie on the steps near the louvre.
the afternoon was mainly relocating our stuff from one place to the next. a small drama with the wrong apartment key being left for us caused a few hours delay, but after that we went on a walking tour of Marias district. and got caught in a thunderstorm. nice. we went with the discover paris walks, with a local student Sara, and we must have been the only ones that didn't know about the impending storm as there was no one else on the tour, but it was still lovely to hear a different part of france/paris history and see some of the prettiest buildings and squares
the next morning there was a tiny bit of blue sky! so we grabbed some crossiants and headed to the eiffel tower for a picnic breakfast. but it turned grey by the time we got there. the rest of the day was pretty much perfect thou, so i cant complain.
coffee and walking through the lovely streets of paris led us to macaron mecca. La duree. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. sigh.
i was like a little kid a disney. very exciting
