our first stop on a 6 week tour of europe, Paris. Amazing as always. this trip was purely for the search of macarons. but surprisingly i only had 6 in total. 6 of the most amazing and delicious macarons ever thou.
We arrived on Monday to a perfect morning. the first site we saw was the beautiful Notre Dame as we stepped of the metro to find our hotel. there is just something about paris that makes me so happy. the beautiful buildings, the smell of the air, something that makes me want to come back again and again.
our plan for the day was to visit chatau fontainebleau, just outside of Paris. so we grabbed our normal travel picnic items... bagettes, cheese, salami. and headed the hour or so to the chatau. only when we got to the little town of Avon, did i read a sign saying it was closed on tuesdays. opps. oh well the gardens were super pretty. even in the rain
the other most important part of tuesday was dinner and dessert. we found a cute little place near st martin, called La fourmi ailée the winged ant. french food, in a book store. couldn't ask for anything more really, plus it was also on Kym's list of recommended places. so we couldn't go wrong.
and the wine was good.
Joe had veal, and i had vegetables stuffed with lamb and beef. yum.
amazing.
and finally dessert. macarons at last. i can't remember the name of the place, but you buy the macarons by weight. we had 4, chocolate, salted caramel, rose and cafe all for the bargin price of 3euro or less. they were incredible. worth the whole trip just for this moment :)
so good. oh and a perfect sunset to finish the day :)
